How it works
Three things happen, in this order.

It works out the country
The app checks the device's position from time to time and resolves it to a country. Not a street, not a route — a country and a date.

It counts calendar days
One day per country, per date, however many times you were seen there. A day you cross a border counts on both sides — the way the Schengen rule reads it, and the cautious way to count anywhere else.

It warns you before the limit
Set the limits that apply to you and the app raises a notification as you approach one. That happens on the device; nothing is sent anywhere to make it work.
Rules it understands
Most stay limits are one of three shapes.
Pick the shape, set the numbers, and the app does the arithmetic against your actual days. The Schengen area is counted as one place rather than as its member countries.

Fixed window
Counted inside a period with a set start and end — a calendar year, a tax year, the term of a permit. Resets when the period does.
n days / per entry
Per visit
A cap on a single stay rather than on a total. Counted from each arrival and reset by each departure.
Where your data goes
Your travel history stays on the phone.
There is no account, no sync, and no server of ours holding your movements. Countries and dates live in storage on the device and leave it only when you export them yourself. What does leave the phone is short and named in full in the policy: coordinates go to the operating system's geocoder to be turned into a country name, subscriptions run through the App Store or Google Play, and crash and usage reports go to Firebase.
